People of Chicago: We will be with Sam Green doing some rare screenings of THE LOVE SONG OF R. BUCKMINSTER FULLER on February 26th at the Thalia Hall!! The first show's sold out but still a few tix left for the later one.
Buckminster Fuller lived in Chicago and had many formative experiences there - we've been waiting many years to do a screening there. Should be a great show!!!

Today marks the 25th anniversary of Yo La Tengo’s “From A Motel 6” being released as a single thru the confusing maelstrom of the major label distribution system. It’s also Ira Kaplan’s birthday, and to celebrate both of these historic events we’re offering 25% off ‘Extra Painful’ and ‘There’s A Riot Going On’. Stream “From A Motel 6” and find your territory’s Matador Webstore : http://mat-r.co/motel6

Hi everybody,
First of all, thanks to everyone who made our Hanukkah shows such a blast: the performers, our crew, and the Bowery Ballroom staff. And no small thanks to the audience as well, on your feet for five hours a night, with seemingly no ill effects. If you were there, you know what it was like.
And if you weren’t, but would like to pretend that you were, what better accessory than some of our Hanukkah merchandise? As they have so many times before, Stephen Hunking and Annie Chia donated their time and talent and designed a great t-shirt and poster, exclusively for these eight nights. But there’s some overstock (extremely limited, in the case of the t-shirts), so we’re putting it on sale at http://yolatengo.com/forsale/, starting at noon EST December 26. Put an IOU in the stocking—it’ll make the perfect belated gift!
Additionally, as you may already know, every time we play Hanukkah, James puts together an octet of compilers to create a mix cd of songs to play between sets, and for a lucky few to take home with them. Pay attention to this part, because there’s been confusion in the past! These are not selections from the concerts themselves, but songs from the various compilers’ record collections. For 24 hours only, starting at noon EST December 26, we will make available downloads of James’s, Georgia’s, and my mixes. We also have a few physical copies left of the mix made by Dave Weckerman of The Feelies. That’ll be on sale too.
The mixes are $10 each, and every penny will go to our 2018 Hanukkah charities: HIAS, the Committee to Protect Journalists, the Reproductive Health Access Project, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Center for Constitutional Rights, the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, the Environmental Defense Action Fund, and the ACLU of New York. For the posters and t-shirts, we will donate all the net proceeds, less shipping costs, to those same charities.

ho ho ho, Ira
