Tiny Ruins takeover: Walt Whitman's When I Heard at the Close of the Day
Tiny Ruins Feb 12, 2019
Thank you MOJO - ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ - “Hollie Fullbrook’s lovely understated voice & wonky lyrical wisdom remain key on the Auckland trio’s [sic] third LP. Less minimal folk this time, the title track and Holograms are particularly fulsome, the latter twinkling with Rhodes piano and bass thrum.”
Tiny Ruins Feb 12, 2019
Thank you Uncut Magazine - 8/10 - “Instrumentation remains sparse, but there’s a warmth to ‘Kore Waits in the Underworld’ that recalls Lambchop’s early 2000s recordings; her vocals flutter gracefully, in a distant echo of Karen Dalton’s on ‘School of Design’ whose glockenspiel [sic - vibraphone] and double bass recall Calexico’s quieter, more jazz-inflected moments. ‘Holograms’, meanwhile, finds Tom Healy’s electric guitars shimmering like an optimistic Lynchian dream.” Also this sweet photo in the mag by Georgie Craw

"Set to music that looks toward new horizons, Olympic Girls is a gentle study into freedom’s precariousness. The quest can be exhausting and frustrating, but, here, Tiny Ruins relish its brief embrace." - Pitchfork on 'Olympic Girls'!

Martin & his team flew up from Christchurch and we filmed the video at my flat and in a friend’s cleared office space in Avondale. We spent a day painting the planets in my lounge, and collecting an array of technology, op shop finds, clothes from incredible designers, lasers and a smoke machine from friends. The team spent three days living, eating and shooting the video together. So many people pitched in and helped in a very last-minute spontaneous way, so a huge thank you to the talented efforts of the following - Directed by Martin Sagadin Written by Martin Sagadin & Hollie Fullbrook Cinematographer / Colourist: Julian Vares Art Director / Make-up: Julia Sharp DIT / Editor: Adam-Luka Turjak Choreographer: Alyx Duncan Wardrobe supplied by: 6x4, RUBY, Kate Sylvester Thank you: Si Moore, Sophie Bayly, Alistair Deverick, Emily Miller Sharma, Martin Robot-Man Horspool, John Harris, Josh Forest, Lukas Mayo, Nate Tamblyn, Rijeka Duncan Turjak, Rob O’Meara, Sarah Firmston, Sam Duncan, Scotty Pearson, Stu Harwood, The Freers, The Lab, & NZ On Air

New song 'Holograms' is out today, ahead of our album release on February 1st! It's a hazy, dreamy party banger. We made the video with fantastic Christchurch director Martin Sagadin. It is a sci-fi ish tale of thwarted communication - a tale for the ages... Please give it a spin on your favourite loudspeakers... hope you like it.
