The Residents are an experimental music and visual arts group largely shrouded in mystery and myth. The Residents began recording in 1967, although many of these recordings from their early years have still gone unreleased to this day. The earliest material from the group, traded among bootlegs, was recorded around 1969. In 1972, the group adopted the name The Residents and issued their first official release, Santa Dog.
Allmusic had this to say about the Residents: "Over the course of a recording career spanning several decades Read more on Last.fm
Folks, it's come to our attention that our 'Mole Box' is released today! That's 6CDs of Mole-related ear candy, including 'Mark Of The Mole', 'The Tunes Of Two Cities', 'The Big Bubble', two live recordings (including the never before released 'Uncle Sam Mole Show') and a whole load of previously unheard live-in-the-studio takes, unused tracks, demos, instrumental mixes and other Moley Chubby stuff.

Wow, it feels like a while ago we went over all of these tapes. There's sure a lot of it. One can only imagine how many discs this might've needed if we'd ever finished the project.....

What kind of fools would release their debut album on April 1st? Well, we figured nobody else would, so forty-five years ago TO THE DAY ‘Meet The Residents’ was introduced to an unprepared public. It took a while to catch on – rumours of the album selling a total of forty copies in its first year may or may not be true – but nowadays people seem to like it. And John Lennon supposedly kept a copy on his mantelpiece, which presumably can’t be said of many other records. So let’s hear it for debut albums, for April Fools and for those forty individuals who got it from day one back in 1974. You can find the original 1974 mono mix, and the later stereo remix, on the 'Meet The Residents’ pREServed edition, available from all reasonably minded outlets...

Psst! Swivel those eyeballs this way folks! 👀👀
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of ‘Eskimo’, The Residents present 'Eskimo Deconstructed: The 40th Anniversary 2LP/CD Set'.
That's right, this is the classic ambient masterpiece deconstructed – over seventy loops, chants, musical fragments and sound effects extracted from the original multitrack tapes and spread across four sides of vinyl - essentially it's your chance to re-mix Eskimo at your leisure! It also includes a one-hour CD of Arctic wind sounds.
Sure, it’s a classic, and this is undoubtedly sacrilege, but consider this a chance to screw with The Residents’ music just like they’ve been screwing with everybody else’s for almost fifty years now.
Dig out your sampler and your turntables and dive in!

⭐️All orders placed directly with Cherry Red Records/MVD before release date will be entered into a draw to win signed test pressings of both The Residents’ ‘W***** B***’ and ‘BS’ albums!⭐️

Exciting Record Store Day news – The Residents legendary, infamous and un-Googlable ‘BS’ album will be released worldwide on Record Store Day this April. Recorded in the early ‘70s - August-November 1971 to be precise – we’d completely forgotten about its existence until the master tape fell from a shelf in the archive onto the singing Resident’s head. As a consequence, he now has no memory of the recording, but we thought you might like to hear it anyway. Enjoy, folks.

BUNNY’S BACK!!! (sort of)
From Sept 5, 2009 through March 28, 2009, The Residents on behalf of their good friend Bunny, answered between 1500-2000 emails responding to Bunny’s plea for help finding his missing brother Harvey. The Bunny emails have now been collected and edited in a book titled The Bunny Emails. The book will be sold as part of an art installation recreating the Bunny Room at Bandit-Mages in Bourges, France opening on April 20, 2019. An advance sale of the book is now available through the European crowd funding site Ulule.

In his own words, Hardy reflects on all things Residential. Don Hardy put together some clips of Hardy's musings including this one about how The Cryptic Corporation began.

It is with great sorrow and regrets that The Cryptic Corporation announces the passing of longtime friend and associate, Hardy Fox. As president of the corporation from 1982-2016, the company benefitted from Hardy’s instinct for leadership and direction, but his true value came from his longtime association with The Residents. As the group’s producer, engineer, as well as a co-creator and collaborator on much of their material, Fox’s influence on The Residents was indelible; despite any formal training, his musicality was nevertheless unique, highly refined and prolific. Blessed with a vital sense of aesthetics, a keen ear, and an exquisite love of the absurd, Hardy’s smiling face was a constant source of joy to those around him. He was loved immeasurably and will be missed dearly.
After a series of recent health problems, Hardy succumbed to a brief illness, He is survived by his husband, Steven Kloman. An announcement regarding memorial services will be forthcoming.
