We love the Cellar - it's a truly special music venue to us. It's the place we first really learned how to be a band and how to perform live... We have had many happy (and sweaty) a time there - both as performers and as part of the crowd being inspired by what we were witnessing/hearing. (It's also where we first met soundman Jimmy Hetherington who not only showed us what this thing called a 'soundcheck' was, but also mastered our very first EPs way back in 1893...) We would love other bands and audiences to continue to have the Cellar in their lives - independent music venues like the Cellar are the lifeblood of NEW MUSIC. There's not much time - *please*, if you haven't already done so, help get this Crowdfunder campaign over the mark and keep the Cellar... #livemusic #lovesmallmusicvenues #Cellarforever http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/cellar-forever/ @cellaroxford

Storno-violinist Susie Attwood is trending on BBC News. After meeting Aboud on her documentrary-making travels in Lebanon, and hearing about his passion for music, Susie helped arrange for the loan of a top-quality instrument for him to play.

Dear folk, thanks if you came to see us on our #FarewellTour, to wave goodbye at one of the shows we played over those happy two weeks. We are riding into the sunset... but there is a moon rising - and it can be yours to keep! If you’ve ever wanted to be the proud owner of a 6-foot electric light-up moon, with a painted Bonxie across it, now is your one & only chance. We will be donating half the money raised by this auction, to RSPB Love Nature. The moon has been with us for the bulk of Stornotouring. After having carted its 90kg mass around Europe since 2013 (to the delight of our touring crew) it’s still in great condition despite having shared many a sweaty stage with us. The lighting inside comprises 18x neon tubes taking a standard UK voltage (via a single standard IEC/kettle lead), and it has two very strong hooks, as shown in the final photo, for hanging using cable or rope. It is best transported by rolling, like a massive waxed cheese. The first 4 photos show it in action (1+2 were taken by Helen Messenger Photography at our final ever show, in Oxford New Theatre; 3+4 are from our 2013 tour for 2nd album Tales From Terra Firma). The final 3 photos show you the technical bits: a soft foam cover for the front (to protect the painted bonxie) and a felt cover for the back (to keep the light from shining out when plugged in). If you know of a particularly excellent destination for the Bonxie Moon, please bid above and feel free to send us a message through the auction site.

Loving this #aria #bass SB1000RIB and getting great compliments on its tone after each show. It's making these sold out shows so fun... Perfect complement to the softer flatwound sound of Oli's usual Fender #jazzbass. Thanks to all the support for this #farewelltour, we couldn't do this without the help of Aria, #vivaroontour #ivw17, and our mates BRASSTRONAUT getting the audiences warmed up so nicely! Glasgow tomorrow at the City Halls & Old Fruitmarket!

[listen on soundcloud below] Thanks to Folk Radio UK & BBC Introducing In Oxford, and courtesy of Autolycus Records, you can now hear for the first time our arrangement of the ancient traditional "Eibhlín a Ríun”... As far as we know, the song was originally composed by an Irish harp player (called Carrol O'Daly) in 14th cent, but by the time of Shakespeare (200 years later) it was very popular. There are two Irish expressions — specifically "ducdame" and "cead mile failte" (a hundred thousand welcomes) – which are used in ‘As You Like It’ and ‘Coriolanus’ respectively, and whose origins people tend to trace back to the song. Then from around 17th century, there are apparently lots of reports of performances of the song either before or during ‘Richard III’, ‘Julius Caesar’ and ‘Henry V’… we hope you enjoy this little ditty and the others featured on the compilation including DEAD RAT ORCHESTRA and Brickwork Lizards. Also make sure you catch the interview on BBC Introducing in Oxford, with Tom who masterminded the project and James Bell, one of the musicians involved (and an old friend of ours from Oxford’s thriving folk scene)! The album is now available on digital retailers, and will be in the shops on CD by the weekend. Please all share the album premiere: http://www.folkradio.co.uk/2017/02/album-the-food-of-love-project/

This radio program chimes pretty well with themes we explored on the BONXIE album. Highly recommended: "Singer-songwriter Kizzy Crawford returns to the RSPB nature reserve at Carngafallt in Mid Wales, where she was inspired to create "Can Yr Adar - Birdsong" with pianist and composer, Gwilym Simcock, and members of Sinfonia Cymru. Kizzy and Gwilym share how they wove music out of the landscape and wildlife she found at Wales's own 'Celtic rainforest', and they open a window on the hidden processes of creation, collaboration and communication that gave birth to a brand new work of art."

Now taking votes for which songs you'd like to hear on our final tour! Comment below. "Ambition or necessity drove them beyond the confines of pastoral folk-pop. But Stornoway will go down as one of those slow-burning legends that people will discover for themselves over the course of decades, a band your children will be amazed you never saw. There’s one tour left; stow away on their magical icebreaker while you still can."
