A review from our 2018 "Blues Opera" performance at Upstairs at Vitello's from the great Clifford Bell. Still some tickets left for Reverend Tall Tree's Blues Opera - Sunday 1/20/19. Please join us! (Photos by Amy Francis Schott) REVEREND TALL TREE'S BLUES OPERA Upstairs at Vitello's (August 12, 2018) "I can shout from the rooftops about this amazing talent I got to see last night-- As I mentioned here before, I first saw CHRIS PIERCE at Catalina's in the wonderful series "A Little New Music" that Christopher Maikish and Amy Francis Schott produce. He blew me away with his one number so when told me that he wanted to play Upstairs At Vitello's, I was happy to help make that happen... The result happened last night and it was "A HAPPENING"...a full house crammed into the very cool mostly Jazz venue and leaped to their feet with an enthusiastic Standing Ovation when the show was over... What they saw was a Burn The House Down, Rip The Roof Off, 70 minute Tour De Force performance of a completely original artistic effort that favorably stimulated memories of young Elvis, Otis Redding, Johnny Cash, and every tent Revival Show you've ever imagined. With all original songs and a killer trio of bass, guitar and drums, Chris had more raw soul and style than I've seen on a stage in a loooong time...Perhaps even ever. Keep your ear to the ground for the next time Chris and his crew are announced to play anywhere and get thee to the Revival as fast as you can!!"
"So this morning, as I look into your eyes, and into the eyes of all of my brothers in Alabama and all over America and over the world, I say to you, “I love you. I would rather die than hate you.” And I’m foolish enough to believe that through the power of this love somewhere, men of the most recalcitrant bent will be transformed. And then we will be in God’s kingdom. We will be able to matriculate into the university of eternal life because we had the power to love our enemies, to bless those persons that cursed us, to even decide to be good to those persons who hated us, and we even prayed for those persons who despitefully used us." – Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968)
