Ok, final warnings for those of you (in the UK) who want to watch the BBC Proms performance of The Race For Space, specially re-arranged by JFAbraham with The Multi-Story Orchestra and London Contemporary Voices. It drops off the iPlayer in the small hours of Monday morning and - for various boring reasons that we've already mentioned - we have no plans to do anything with it ourselves for the foreseeable future so get your VHSs or modern-day equivalents sorted before it vanishes into the ether. For the full 'I was there' experience make sure to watch it at an ambient temperature of roughly 45 degrees celsius on the hottest day in history. Lots of love, PSB HQ
Only two and a half weeks until our final festival appearance of the year, at the one and only Moseley Folk & Arts Festival. It's a great lineup and we're honoured to be co-headlining the Friday night. Final tickets are available here - hope to see some of you there! http://www.moseleyfolk.co.uk/tickets
Just a reminder that if you'd like to (re?)watch our BBC Proms performance of The Race For Space with The Multi-Story Orchestra and London Contemporary Voices, you have 18 days left to do so... & for those asking, we don't have any current plans to release it ourselves as album 4 stuff is taking up all of our time and efforts for the foreseeable future... so maybe dig out your VHS recorder or find a modern equivalent if you want to 'keep' it!
In & amongst the Proms and Truck Festival dates last week, we confirmed a show in Wakefield on September 6. We’ll be performing The Race For Space (and the requisite Other Smash Hits) in full as part of Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon. We were a bit slow publishing details here (sorry) and tickets have fairly flown out. The only remaining tickets for this show are from: Jumbo Records: https://www.jumborecords.co.uk/tickets-single.asp?event_id=27360 Crash Records: https://www.crashrecords.co.uk/product/public-service-broadcasting-the-race-for-space-06-09-19-wakefield-market-hall/ and from tomorrow they will be available in person from Wah Wah Records in Wakefield. This’ll be our first time back in Wakefield since our gig at The Hop back in 2013 - look forward to seeing some of you there!
‘Audiences love it when a performer walks the tightrope in front of them; like sports fans, they feel like their support is what keeps the team winning.’ - David Byrne, How Music Works It definitely felt like walking the tightrope on Thursday at the BBC Proms, although we were of course assisted by both the fantastic The Multi-Story Orchestra and London Contemporary Voices (wonderfully arranged by our own JFAbraham) as well as our own brassy gents, but we definitely owe a big thank you for all the support on the night and along the way. Here’s us doing ‘Go!’, dedicated to Chris Kraft in the wake of his death last Monday. The whole show is available on iPlayer for the rest of this month, both audio and video, and a big thanks, too, to a raucous TRUCK FESTIVAL crowd for a really fun show the day after. Lots of love, PSB HQ https://youtu.be/DPa4Sz_j2io
Our BBC Proms show is being televised tonight at 11pm on BBC Four. Many, many thanks to London Contemporary Voices, the Multi-Story Orchestra, the BBC for asking us to play such a prestigious event and of course (!) our very own JFAbraham for his fantastic arrangements. You can also listen below at any time on Radio 3. Lots of love, PSB HQ https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00071mr
Right then - tonight's BBC Proms performance will be live on both BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 6 Music from around 10.15pm. It'll also be shown tomorrow at 11pm on BBC Four. It'll be on the iPlayer afterwards but not sure for how long. See some of you there later - here's a 6Music link to listen live, or see the main R3 website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000715z
We've gone full News and Current Affairs this week ahead of (and during) the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. First up was JW on the Today programme, er, yesterday - you can listen to his interview 2h26 into the programme here (just after one J Hunt has finished): https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0006scn And then tonight, making our BBC2 live debut in inimitable PSB style, we'll be playing out the closing credits on Newsnight. Tune in from 10.30pm BST! And then we're off to Cornwall for Apollo 50 at Goonhilly tomorrow - see some of you there!
Tickets are starting to run low for our Caerphilly Castle show in just over 3 weeks' time. Support comes from the fantastic Boy Azooga - final tickets available here: https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/1F005668C9EE6477
As ever Twitter is the best place for stage times (due to FB only showing posts to a fraction of followers unless we pay them) - here are the times for Friday for anyone coming along: https://twitter.com/PSB_HQ/status/1127942620175634433?s=20
We're absolutely thrilled to have been asked to be part of the BBC Proms season, and doubly so given it will involve an orchestral performance of The Race For Space (plus Korolev) featuring The Multi-Story Orchestra. Tickets are available from May 11 - for more details see the link below! https://www.bbc.co.uk/events/e9p84f
Hats off to Ric Elsworth for this fine effort...! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8-WkAVjj6o
We're very pleased to be headlining the Friday night of the prestigious Moseley Folk & Arts Festival this summer! Line-up details below, plus ticket and more information from the official site: https://www.moseleyfolk.co.uk/
**Festival news klaxon!** We'll be making our third appearance (a hat-truck, if you will) at Oxfordshire's finest, TRUCK FESTIVAL, this July. It's a really good lineup (see below for evidence). Tickets and more details here: https://truckfestival.com/
We're very happy to confirm Boy Azooga as one of our support acts for the Caerphilly Castle show on July 6. Tickets are on general sale now, here: https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/1F005668C9EE6477
On July 6 we’re heading to Caerphilly Castle for what promises to be a very special show, almost two years to the day since Every Valley was released. Tickets will cost £35, with a limited pre-sale on Wednesday 13 March at 10am before they go on full sale on Friday 15, also at 10am (https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/1F005668C9EE6477). We’ll also be confirming two support acts soon - we hope you can come and join us in the summer.
We're very happy to be heading down to Cornwall this summer for what promises to be a very special event at Goonhilly Earth Station. We'll be performing The Race For Space (+ other Massive Hits, time permitting) on July 20 to mark 50 years since Apollo 11 landed on the Moon. For more details and to buy tickets (early birds are available now), head here: https://apollo50.co.uk/
We're very excited to be appearing at the Natural History Museum, London on Friday 17 May as part of their Museum of the Moon launch night. In honour of the opening of Luke Jerram's fantastic exhibition and the looming 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, we'll be appearing underneath the blue whale in the Hintze Hall and playing The Race For Space album in full (as well as a few other Enormous Smash Hits from the back catalogue). Tickets are on sale NOW at http://www.nhm.ac.uk/events/public-service-broadcasting.html and cost £46.50 each.* * A note about these prices: we realise they're higher than the average show but they reflect the cost and difficulty of bringing an entire production into a room not normally configured for concerts and setting it all up in roughly 3 hours once the museum closes. We've always tried our best to keep prices as affordable as possible and this show is no different.
Our Belfast show on 1 February is now sold out - the final tickets for Dublin's Olympia Theatre are here. Grab them while you can! https://www.ticketmaster.ie/event/1800551F89A61162
