If you, or someone you know is aged between 11 and 16 years, enjoys music, would like to work with like-minded young people, and would love the opportunity to learn an instrument FOR FREE… now is your chance! Thanks to generous funding from Louth Leader, the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland is delighted to announce the launch of ‘Count Us In’ Free music lessons will be given in Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, French Horn and Percussion. The programme is suitable for beginners but may also be of interest to young people who have a foundation in piano. Participants will be provided with an instrument on loan and free weekly group lessons. Lessons will be two hours long, and will take place in Dundalk, at weekends commencing in January 2019. Anybody interested in FREE MUSIC LESSONS should apply online at www.cboi.ie by Friday 21st December. Places are limited. For further information please email [email protected] Count Us In is a pioneering project modelled on the Venezuelan system of music education which is regarded as the best in the world. It is based on group tuition as research shows that young people are more receptive to learning and more motivated in a group situation especially when they are part of a committed team who strive together to achieve excellence. All children and teens should have the opportunity to take music lessons and experience the social, emotional, and academic benefits that come from learning an instrument, particularly in a group setting. The CBOI has been involved in music education for almost 25 years, and is in a unique position in that musicians trained under ‘Count Us In’ can go on to become members of the Orchestra. CBOI provides incredible opportunities for members including the opportunity to perform in our annual Peace Proms Arena Tour. This involves up to 15 large-scale performances to audiences in excess of 50,000 people in iconic arenas including the SSE Arena, Belfast; the Simmonscourt Arena, RDS, Dublin and the Echo Arena, Liverpool. The CBOI also undertakes regular international concert tours and in the past has performed in top venues including Carnegie Hall, New York and the Royal Albert Hall, London. CBOI has also performed for Queen Elizabeth II at Hillsborough Castle and for USA President Barak Obama at the White House, Washington D.C. By being part of this amazing organisation, members develop a great sense of achievement, self-confidence and ambition; and experience the enormous pride that comes with being a valued part of a successful, dedicated team. DYNAMICS - FREE MUSIC LESSONS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS. Register your school’s interest by Friday 7th December by emailing [email protected] Thanks to further generous funding from Louth Leader, the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland is delighted to announce the launch of a new and innovative music education programme targeted at Primary Schools in Louth – ‘Dynamics’. The ‘Dynamics’ project, managed and monitored by CBOI will be taught in two Primary Schools, ideally DEIS schools, or schools in rural isolated regions with little access to the Arts or Music Education. The programme is FREE for selected schools. Under the scheme, instrumental tuition will be given in Violin; children will be provided with a Violin on loan; children will have daily group violin lessons during term time and will be taught by highly qualified and experienced tutors. The programme is ideally suited to small class groups aged 6 – 7years. Schools are now invited to register their interest in the ‘Dynamics’ programme. Schools registering their interest should ensure that they have the full support of the school Principal, Staff and Board of Management. They should also ensure that they have a suitable space where tuition can take place and adequate storage space for the instruments. The ‘Dynamics’ programme is also modelled on the Venezuelan system of music education which is regarded as the best in the world. Through ‘Dynamics’ the CBOI aims to develop a thriving classical music education system for children in Louth. Ensemble or group learning is proven to be much more successful than individual tuition on which the majority of instrument teaching in Ireland is based. Typically, children receive one individual lesson per week and are expected to 'practice' themselves every other day. In the majority of cases this does not happen, children do not progress at their instrument, and many give up due to frustration at the slow pace of improvement or lack of interest. For further information or to register your school’s interest in participating in dynamics please email [email protected] by Friday 7th December
