Giving big ups to Bloomington DoubleTree Hotel and Conference Center. Might be the nicest hotel I’ve stayed in on tour. Chase at the front desk saved my bacon when I screwed up our reservation, and they were about to sell out. He handled all of it in 4 minutes. So comfortable and clean I didn’t want to leave. Thanks y’all. And also thanks to Ignite Hospitality Services for putting us in such a great spot!

(As I seem to be receiving a lot of backlash as a result of my association and defense of Joe Fletcher since a particular article in the Nashville Scene came out, I would like to address our extended Nashville music community directly, and would ask those outside of that circle, please withhold comment or inquiry. Thank you.) I have known a lot of addicts in my life. Almost all them have lost their lives because of their addiction. I will always wish I had done more to help them, despite their crimes and transgressions. In 2016, an addict friend came out of rehab and needed help and support to transition to outpatient therapy and sober living. I chose to help a friend in desperate need. I have no regrets about that. What I will always regret is defending a narrative that obscured and normalized dangerous behavior. I defended him publicly and in performance without understanding what I was actually doing. I dismissed what I should have considered. I excused what I vilified in others. I was motivated by loyalty to a friend in need, and didn’t realize the hurt it caused. That was egotistical and short sighted behavior on my part and I see that now. I sincerely apologize to Libby Rose, for being dismissive of her and the abusive and horribly scarring effects of serial infidelity. I could have behaved in a much more empathetic and understanding way, and I chose to just dismiss her. That was shameful and wrong. I apologize to the attendees of my show in Providence for trying to shame former friends of Joe’s for abandoning him in his time of need. I didn’t know what I was talking about. It was wrong, and simply egotistical behavior. It was hurtful and just irresponsible. I am so incredibly sorry for that. Although I don’t know her, I would also like to offer apologies to Ms. Boynton for publicly dismissing her because I felt attacked by her campaign against my friend. Knee jerk dismissal of a person’s claim of abuse should never be the choice. I am sorry for that. It can not, and will not happen again. My reasoning, however misguided, was born out of loyalty and duty to an addict friend. I chose to gratify my ego by playing the role of stalwart defender of a buddy in need, while dismissing empathy for others who needed and deserved it. This is not an excuse. I fully accept that the narrative I adhered to was flawed. I am truly sorry for that blind adherence. I have learned a great deal that I wish I knew a long time ago. I would like to think I would have behaved differently with that knowledge. I will move forward today with that knowledge and act accordingly. Thank you.

While working in Birmingham, I couldn’t have had a better, more convenient stay. Immaculately clean rooms. Fluffy pillows. Very comfortable beds. I accidentally took a power nap and almost slept through my alarm! Shiela, the manager, and her staff were so friendly, and check In was a breeze. Location couldn’t have been more convienient.

Everyone rested and ready!? Kicking off 2019 dates at one of the best rock clubs in the world: the mighty The Continental Club in Austin, TX on Jan. 11. This is the first of several shows shared with Austin's own Greyhounds. The next night (1.12) we return to one of our other favorite Texas haunts, Magnolia Motor Lounge in Fort Worth. Here's a review from last year's show at Old Rock House in St. Louis that just popped up on our radar. Some great photos here from Duane Clawson. We'll be back in St. Louis at OFF BROADWAY MUSIC VENUE the following week (w Greyhounds) as part of a mini tour. Check out all the dates & ticket links on the Tour Dates page. And resolve to rock and roll.
