Motörhead were a British heavy metal band formed in London, UK in 1975 by bassist, singer and songwriter Ian Fraser Kilmister (24 December 1945 – 28 December 2015), known mostly by his stage name Lemmy, who has remained the sole constant member. The band pre-dated, but are sometimes regarded as part of, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which re-energised heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Motörhead is also regarded as, with Judas Priest and Accept, one of the first Speed Metal bands. Read more on Last.fm
In 1979, Motörhead’s tour manager Graham Mitchell took hundreds of photos of the band onstage and off. He kindly let us go through his personal archive during the making of the 40th anniversary editions of Overkill and Bomber so you could see these awesome, never before seen photos. #Motorhead79

#TBT the original tape boxes for the Overkill album masters. For the 40th anniversary editions of Overkill and Bomber we went back to the original tapes and reproduced the new masters from them, so they sound is exactly how they did on the first editions back in ’79, lawn killingly loud! No extra remastering has been done! #Motorhead79

1979 was the year Motörhead unleashed both the seminal Overkill and Bomber albums. To celebrate the anniversary of these loud, rude, dirty and wonderfully rambunctious bastards, here’s previously unseen live footage of them playing that wonderful dinner-time ditty, ‘Bomber’ in ’79. #Motorhead79
