It was released on July 19, 1994 in the US through Nothing and Interscope Records. It was produced by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. The album was initially known as The Manson Family Album – a direct reference to Charles Manson's own band – but was retitled prior to release.

It's MM 9th studio album and was released on January 15, 2015 (Recorded between May 2013 – September 2014), through Marilyn Manson's Hell, etc. label, and was distributed in the US by Loma Vista Recordings and internationally by Cooking Vinyl. The album was released in standard and deluxe editions on CD and double LP vinyl, and as a limited edition box set. The standard version of the album contains ten tracks; the deluxe edition includes three acoustic versions as bonus tracks.

It was released on November 11, 2000 by Nothing and Interscope Records. A rock opera concept album, it is the final installment of atriptych which also included Antichrist Superstar(1996), and marked a return to the industrial metalstyle of the band's earlier work, after the glam rock-influenced production of Mechanical Animals (1998).

Marilyn Manson has announced rescheduled US tour dates for January and February following the postponement of his October US tour due to an on stage injury that occurred at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom on September 30. All tickets for original performances will be honored at newly announced dates below. Unfortunately, Manson is not able to honor tickets for the October 8th Columbus, Ohio show or the October 26th Phoenix, AZ - refunds are available for those two shows at point of purchase. Tickets for the shows in new markets will go on sale to the public on Friday, October 20th at 10am. Manson will return to the stage on November 5th performing at Ozzfest Meets Knotfest in Devore, CA.
