There was a Guster Jumble in the new Guster Gazette we mailed out last week to people’s actual, physical mailboxes. Did anyone figure out the answer?

This is Kerensa and family. Kerensa and family love Guster! Guster asked her some questions: Q: HOW DID YOU DISCOVER GUSTER? A: I went to college in Boston from 1991-1995. I listen to a lot of music but love Guster, Barenaked Ladies and Dave Matthews Band. Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GUSTER RECORD? A: My favorite record is probably Keep it Together with favorite songs: "Parachute," "Backyard" and "What You Wish For" in that order. Q: DO YOU HAVE A GUSTER CONCERT MEMORY YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE? A: Recently I took my boss from my new job to the outdoor show in Portland for her birthday after finding out on a long road trip to our NY office that she, too, was a fan. It was lots of rain and mud but fun dancing and always a cool show! My husband and I went the year before and loved the show, dancing in the grass, the food trucks and the sunset. Q: WOULD YOU LIKE TO ASK GUSTER THE THUNDERGOD WHY HE NEVER PUTS A CERTAIN SONG IN THE SETLIST? A: For the life of me, I can't think of a song that he hasn't played! Now I want to know!! Q: DO YOU OWN ANY GUSTER MERCHANDISE THAT IS STILL IN THE ROTATION? A: I only own concert tees from the shows I've attended. AND THE STORY THAT STARTED IT ALL IN THE Official Guster Fan2Fan Reboot.... My daughters’ first concert was at the Boston Orpheum. One was 7 and one was 5. Tix given to us as a bonus at work for going above and beyond. The 7 year old watched others and mimicked the teenagers dancing around us. The five year old fell asleep in my arms as I danced. ❤️ years later my new leader in a different organization also let it slip that she loved Guster. And for her bday we took her to the on the ocean tour that my husband and I attended the year before. Mud and rain did not stop us from singing and dancing 😊. I’ve been w Guster since college and still sing loudly to their music in the car with my girls - one of which is now in college!!!

"Look Alive" The sun came up, the world began to shake Fault lines exposing all my own mistakes If I could do anything Then this wouldn't be happening It’s been a long time Since I’ve felt courageous Stand up, stand up, stand up, stand up Walking in my sleep never to awaken Be love, be love, be love, be love Look alive Should watch what I say There’s power in my refrains Most of these days Been pumping on the brakes If we could do anything Then this wouldn't be happening If we’re strong for once It could get contagious Stand up, stand up, stand up, stand up Walking in my sleep never to awaken Be love, be love, be love, be love Look alive Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up Dancing in the dark with old hallucinations Be love, be love, be love, be love Look alive The hero enters the frame He’s memorized his lines In hollow words from the front of the stage Echo for miles and miles and miles and miles Stand up, stand up, stand up, stand up Walking in my sleep never to awaken Be love, be love, be love, be love Look alive Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up Dancing in the dark with old hallucinations Be love, be love, be love, be love Look alive

This is the news we’ve been waiting all year to share! Our new album is called Look Alive and comes out January 18th on Nettwerk Music Group/Ocho Mule Records. We’ve shared a couple of tracks and a few little snippets of information so far, but now we’re getting serious. Our song “Look Alive” (yes, it’s also the album title) premieres today on NPR Music. Then starting tonight at midnight you can stream or download the song "Look Alive" wherever you get your music. Finally, there are tour dates, too! Presale starts tomorrow at 12PM local time, and the full list of shows is available in the NPR article. Get info and links for all of the shows at www.facebook.com/guster/events and use presale code: HARDTIMES

A true story from Ryan: At pretty much the exact moment I got an email from our manager saying, “We should really think about a lyric video for ‘Hard Times’” I saw a tweet buried in my search results (all notorious googlers of their own name, say aye): @someonewhosnameicantfind: “hey @guster, did you ever see this, a fan-made line rider video of ruby falls?” @guster: what. Cut to, present day: we are super proud to present our collaboration with Ben Harvey, a Line Rider samurai. Buckle up, you. Massive thanks Ben and team for the inspired take on our most recent jam…..

A special PSA from Adam and Reverb! KT Tunstall, members of Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5, and our very own Adam went into the Peruvian Amazon with the Environmental Investigation Agency US to learn from indigenous leaders who are risking their lives to protect the world’s old growth forests - the lungs of our planet. Take action by demanding the Peruvian President protect indigenous rights and end illegal logging... Head to www.reverb.org/defend and add your name to the letter that will be delivered directly to the President of Peru. Then tune in tomorrow at 8PM ET for the Defend The Defenders Facebook live stream event to hear direct from Adam and other musicians about their trip to the Amazon, and they'll also play a special acoustic performance. Follow Reverb’s Facebook page or check back here tomorrow night.

We have some big news coming next week... it's likely maybe not but could have something to do with "album news" and a "world tour of most of North America and southern Canada." If you want to find out whether we're just messing with you, or telling the truth, you'll just have to sign up for the ole Guster newsletter and anxiously stare at your digital inbox next week until you, maybe, get some "big news" in form of text written by the Thundergod himself:

Do you remember the tampon dispenser disaster of '06? We'll set the scene... It was the spring of that year and the band was embarking on the very first Reverb Campus Consciousness Tour, not long before Ganging Up On The Sun came into the world. Fun fact, that tour included The Format opening up and hip events such as a "Pimp My Clean Ride Car Show" (which really didn't age well...) While on a pit stop for the National Biodiesel Fuel Press Conference before a show in East Lansing at Michigan State, Adam hit his head in a woman's bathroom while Ryan was left to stump on renewable fuel like a true pro. The photos may be gone, but the story lives on:

Legendary old school fan Nick Klepesch took this photo with a Komodo dragon in Indonesia — does anyone have a pic wearing a Guster shirt in a more exotic setting? If so, post in the comments. Komodo dragons can eat 80% of their body mass in one sitting and like Nick, can reproduce without having sex.

You can help fellow fans take action on saving the planet and see a Guster show for free? This is real! Reverb will be joining us on our upcoming November tour and we're looking for volunteers. It's essentially a superhero job, so on top of a free show you'll get a cool t-shirt, too... because of course every superhero needs a uniform. If that all sounds interesting then find out more information here:

Do you like stories about how videos get made? Here's one you might like about the new one for "Hard Times": Jon Danovic, a friend of ours who had previously worked with us to shoot a Pledge video for Evermotion in a room full of rented barn animals, sent us an email when he heard the song. The email looked like this: Seriously tho, i was going thru a car wash the other day and had time to find some new music and heard this, honestly one of the best songs I've heard in years man. This song is proof that are still ways to make things sound different. Inspired the living f*ck out of me: I have put an asterisk in the spot where Jon had the letter "u" - extrapolate at your own risk so you can devise the appropriate level of Jon's inspiration. Anyway, Jon's email also included an attachment to a video that HE HAD ALREADY FILMED TO COMPLETION. And we loved it. He captured the feeling, the pace, the darkness and the hope within "Hard Times." So, in some ways a "fan video" just became our official video for "Hard Times." But as the Pledge video for Evermotion in a room full of rented barn animals shows, Jon has always been a pro.
