From Brian on his “Moth” Storytelling event at One Longfellow Square that closed out On The Ocean Sunday afternoon: It was epic! People shared their personal Guster-themed stories whether they were funny, difficult, heartwarming, or in the case of Kainoa (pic 2) — a list of scrotum-themed band names he’d written at age 13. When Kainoa complained that I never smiled in our selfies, I stepped up to the plate Big Time. I felt so proud of this community for being so empathic, brave, and open-hearted throughout this event and the entire weekend. We bonded and cried tears together. We take care of each other. Also CLIF Bar took care of us and made sure no one got hungry while listening to the storytellers. Shout out to our fabulous sponsor!

For our Sunday OTO send-off we held a bunch of activities, including a morning bike ride with Luke around Peaks Island. Special thanks to CLIF Bar for keeping our snack game strong that morning and throughout the festival weekend!

The “Joe’s Place Stage” was a great new addition this year at On The Ocean. People got two great sets from former Guster member Joe Pisapia between main stage acts, in addition to a fun Q&A session and legendary fan Spicy V's hot sauce eating contest. The final pic is from the Lobster Bake. Always document your lobster before consuming it. 📸: Matt Cosby

The main event was Saturday night at Thompson's Point. We once again exploited the Guster Children, this time during “Nothing But Flowers” — it was a 29 song show that lasted 2.5 hours with just one costume change, and it didn’t rain. Thanks so much for joining us to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lost & Gone Forever for our 3rd On The Ocean. See you in 2020... 🌊

“Pippi” was hired to play the aftershow party for On the Ocean. They were advertised as an “amazing” EDM band but only performed for three minutes before bailing and taking photos with fans all night. But what a three minutes it was. Yes that’s an inflatable pizza that hit with the “drop”... 📸 1: Justin P. Goodhart Photography 📸 2, 3: Matt Cosby

Gates are open at On The Ocean #3! C’mon down to Thompson's Point and join us. Don’t forget to take a picture where you’re the kid smashing the piano on the cover of Lost and Gone Forever.

This is the key to the city of Portland. We’re grateful, humbled, and also attempting to figure out what this opens. Thank you to Mayor Ethan Strimling, City of Portland, Maine, and WCYY Fan Page. Tonight: sold out acoustic show at First Parish Church. Tomorrow: the big show at Thompson's Point. 📸: Matt Cosby

Guster's cover of "Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying" by Labi Siffre isn't entirely new, it's actually been floating around all year as a live song. Check out this version from Live from Here with Chris Thile that was recorded just last month! Also featuring an awesome crocheted guitar strap. Because why not?

Llamas!! In honor of the historic Llama Trek exhibit and our show here at the Minnesota Zoo tonight, we brought back a limited run of our llama (alpaca?) shirts tonight only! In other news, our road trip to On The Ocean starts tonight!

Guster's cover of Labi Siffre's "Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying" is out now everywhere!
Guster Jul 17, 2019
The Great Algorithm In The Sky™ dropped a doozy on me years ago - “Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying" by Labi Siffre. Not to give too much credit as anything with a one/zero knows I’m a sucker for simple, powerfully delivered, delicate, undiscovered 70’s jams. What I DIDN’T anticipate was how much this quiet protest song would crawl into my skin. Labi, raised as a Catholic but outspoken as both an atheist and as a gay man, manages to convey the struggle of identity and romance and longing in a few short bars. This one is in the tower of song. Check out the cover below courtesy of WXPN's The Key.

1. One of our favorite gags is to make Jeff Garlin pass guitars to us at a show, but never acknowledge it to the crowd - just boast about it the next day. 2. A svelte Jeff Garlin poses for a pic with legendary Guster fan Spicy V. #bigbowlofguitartech

Bus broke down outside of Flagstaff. Might have something to do with the fact that it’s 118 degrees in Arizona today. Show still on!

This "Gusterman" is pumped to be in New Mexico. The summer tour gets going this very evening at Meow Wolf! Next up after is Arizona and a big run of California. Still looking for a ticket for an upcoming show? Head to:

After 20+ years, we know Guster fans have some stories to tell! Happy stories, hilarious stories, crazy stories, deep stories; all kinds. The Thundergod himself decided to host a space to share all of these with fellow supporting fans as part of On The Ocean this year for one of the Sunday Funday events, and we're looking for submissions! The only requirements are your story is Guster related and it's 5-10 minutes to tell. You don't even have to be attending On The Ocean to have your story told. We'll have some pinch-hitter narrators helping out. More details at Submissions close on Monday, July 15th at 11:59PM ET. Send your draft to Brian at: [email protected] Sign-ups to attend all of the extra weekend activities will open this Wednesday at 12PM ET! Keep an eye out!
