Gong - Band Nov 06, 2018
Arguably Gong’s greatest album, You marked the culmination of both the Radio Gnome Trilogy, and of singer, guitarist and visionary Daevid Allen’s first tenure with the band. The Radio Gnome series, which was Allen’s brainchild, cumulatively told a mythological parable that was as ingenious as it was ludicrously comic.

Gong were one of the freakiest and most original bands of the decade. Formed by Soft Machine founder member, guitarist and vocalist Daevid Allen, the Anglo-French musical commune blended jazz, psychedelia and progressive rock into a unique musical mix, which incorporated quirky songs and elongated space-rock excursions.
Gong - Band Oct 23, 2018
Gong's album 2032 had found Daevid Allen revisiting the Radio Gnome mythology with an excellent batch of new music that updated their patented space-rock sound as it took in rap, funk and techno.

"Gong slowly came together in the late '60s when Australian guitarist Daevid Allen (ex-Soft Machine) began making music with his wife, singer Gilli Smyth, along with a shifting lineup of supporting musicians." http://bit.ly/2oh6ltA

Live Floating Anarchy 1977 kicks off with ‘Psychological Overture’, a classic Gong montage of pixie voices and electronic bleeps, abetted by Gilli Smyth’s legendary space whispers. http://bit.ly/2tN1iU7

The Tubes teamed the flamboyant group, fronted by Fee Waybill, with the production skills of widely-travelled rocker Al Kooper.

Gong recorded Angel's Egg later in 1973, which was more eclectic than its predecessor. It included elements of be-bop and gallic soundingchanson, but rendered in a peculiarly Gong style.

When Allen, an Australian national, was refused entry back into the UK from France in 1967, his tenure in Soft Machine had effectively ended. He formed a new group, Gong, and the first album under that name was Magick Brother, released in 1970.
